Banana Bread


Recipe Mrs. Jane Zerbe

Wheat germ works well; substitute 1/2 C. flour
Freezes well
  • 1/2 C. butter, melted
  • 3/4 C. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 C. mashed bananas
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • 2 C. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 C. sour milk
  • 1/2 C. chopped nuts
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F; grease and flour one 9" x 5" loaf pan.

Combine butter, sugar, and eggs; add bananas, vanilla, and lemon juice. Alternately stir in flour mixture and sour milk. Fold in nuts.

Bake for one hour or until toothpick inserted in center comes out completely clean.
